Message pressure is a measure directly related to resistance. An engine with big cams and ported heads and free flowing exhaust will flow more air at the same boost pressure as a stock engine. If I have a kink in the straw my flow will be zero and pressure will be higher. Just like you can have swamp cooler fan flow 4000 cfm but the pressure is low.
